Pictou County retreat to hold open house

Smith House, a Pictou County place that serves as a retreat and rest centre year-round for the leadership of all denominations of the church, is holding an open house Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Opened in 2009, Smith House is at 3581 Shore Rd. on Highway 245, adjacent to the Camp Geddie property near Merigomish. Camp Geddie is owned and operated by the Atlantic provinces synod of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

Smith House is intended to be a place where lay people or clergy can go to be refreshed and renewed, for the price of a donation to the operation of the house.

It offers high-speed Internet, a full kitchen, a living room, a study, two bedrooms and a newly renovated bathroom.

Booking information and photos of the house can be found on the Camp Geddie website at www.campgeddie.ca, or phone Audrey at 924-2330.
